Sensitivity Reading / Consulting

To review and provide feedback on the depiction of marginalised identities, across all genres and age ranges. This may include the detection and correction of racism, bigotry, cultural inaccuracies, and language use and translation.

I also offer customized consultant work on request, including conceptual research, guidance in the outline and early development stage, and workshop design and teaching. ​

Sensitivity reading is meant to help mitigate harm to marginalised communities. This service does not automatically entail an endorsement of the manuscript, a defense against criticism from other parties, or a guarantee that the work is free of any and all problematic content. My name may not be misused in such context.

Developmental / Structural Editing

To clarify and improve on a manuscript's key structure and content, working closely in collaboration with the writer. This may involve deep restructuring of story elements and will include detailed line edits. Does not include research or writing original material unless specified.

Copyediting and Proofreading

Copyediting: To correct for grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation, and other style elements; to check for consistency of mechanics and for internal consistency of facts; to adhere to industry standards of style following CMOS.

Proofreading: To detect and correct any obvious errors in spelling, grammar, layout, and formatting.

Academic Editing and University Coaching

To clarify, organise, and strengthen an academic essay's content, structure, and formatting. Most suitable for essay coursework and thesis writing in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, as well as UK UCAS university applications at bachelor's and master's level.
